Herro - so I've begun raid healing quite a bit lately and it is extremely different from PvP healing, where all my experience has been in the past. I'd like to post some of my thoughts and observations and invite criticism. You cannot possibly hurt my feelings so please feel free to comment.
Observations:
1. My healing per second in raids is hovering around 1.8k - 2.3k
2. I frequently over heal by 15%, sometimes more.
3. My overhealing is indirectly related to my knowledge regarding a fight, ie, the less i know about damage spikes, the more i over heal the raid.
4. My mp5 while not casting is roughly 850. After this weeks upgrades and enchants I hope to have it at 1,000 per 5 seconds. I deliberately stack spirit in favor of straight mp5. As a druid I get a 15% bonus to spirit and it improves my healing spell power. Additionally, I tend to full hot targets and then not cast for several seconds to regen.
5. I use much more of my mana bar than paladins and shamans that are healing in the raid. Although my heals are higher overall, I have a hunch that they are being more mana efficient.
Tactics:
I healing extremely heavy at the start of the fight, then fall into a HoT rotation for tanks, melee, and dps. I use 5k mana almost right off the bat, and then allow regen during HoT phase through the middle of the boss or pull. As enrage approaches, I use innervate and trinkets and begin Nourish casts on tanks and melee, continuing HoT rotation on casters.
I open heals on the tank with Regrowth, a 2 second cast (not counting my haste) which heals for about 4k direct and leaves a HoT effect on the target. Talent points increase crit chance by 50% which procs a 50% cast time reduction for my next cast.
I share the global cooldown with a lifebloom at the tail end of this regrowth. This protects the tank in case I am silenced or drawn to healing melee with a burst of healing (2-4k) at the end of the bloom.
My second cast is Nourish which uses my cast time proc bonus., I share the global cooldown with a rejuv on the tank.
If there is an offtank I repeat this rotation.
Next, I cast wild growth on the tank, effectively HoTing him/her as well as 4 surrounding melee. I then put rejuvs on all rogues, fury warriors, and DKs to proc their regen of rage, energy, or runic power via my talent spec. I can now easily swiftmend any target in proximity of the boss or pull because i have rejuvs on the tank and all melee
So my opening sequence is:
1. Regrowth
2. Lifebloom
3. Nourish
4. Rejuvinate
(Repeat if offtank is present)
5. Wild Growth
6. Rejuv any melee
7. Begin lifeblooming casters as needed.
Now, this whole sequence takes about 5k mana. I know thats a lot to spend right off the bat, but I can regen this quite easily and it safe guards me in case there are large damage spikes i don't know about and need to quickly swiftmend or nourish with the 20% bonus (target must be HoTed).
This is similiar to my PvP strat, but on a larger basis. Heavy initial heals, HoT rotation, regen mana while HoTs tick. Keep rejuvs up to allow for swiftmends.
I welcome ANY thoughts or criticism you may have. |

| All about the beacon and flash of light really. I use GRID which IMO is the best raid display out there. It's simple and easy. |

Well I recently went to resto4life.com and learned a whole lot about Druid raid healing. I've completely changed from the above mentioned rotation, although I still use it in 5 mans.
Last night, I added 3 glyphs (wasn't using any previously) and added 210 spell power. With the improved healing and improved PC, I should be in much better shape. |
